Vijay Varman is a British-Asian screenwriter based in the heart of London, England.
As winner of Britain’s Sexiest Man of Colour in 2012, 2013, and 2015 (2014… Damm you, Idris Elba!); Vijay has always felt sad to know that he was doomed to be known for his looks rather than his skills as a writer.
Having been writing screenplays for the past 5 years, several of his screenplays have achieved success in a variety of competitions and festivals, with the Sci-Fi Drama screenplay, A God Amongst Men, placing in the semi-finals of the Filmquest Film Festival and being optioned for 6 months by the production company, Raindance Raw Talent.
His World War II epic, Brothers of the Fatherland has become a Finalist at the 2015 Yosemite International Film Festival, a Quarter Finalist at the 2015 Creative World Awards Screenwriting Competition, and placed in the top 20% of entrants for the 2016 Academy Nicholls Fellowship.
More recently his female-led script, Around the World in 72 Days, has become a finalist for the 2016 Hollywood Screenplay Contest; and his sci-fi short script, Message through the Stars won the award for Best Screenplay at the National Irish Science Fiction Film Awards.
As he slowly slogs down that long road to his BAFTA, he works as a Stage Door Keeper and Cellar person in the UK theatre industry.
